Trip to the Cape

Well we survived our first family vacation! It is certainly different traveling with a 9 month old then when it was just the two of us. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!
It was a great trip. We had good weather, good friends and good food! What more could you want?
It was a little piece of heaven on earth!
Our days were filled with trips to the beach, walking, shopping and sight seeing!

I just love all the Cape Cod style houses. They are so charming. I just couldn't get enough of them. I wish I could have taken pictures of all of them but I think my husband would have kicked me out of the car! It was bad enough that I would yell "stop!" "I need to take a picture", every 10 seconds!  Good thing he is a patient man!!
Here are some of the homes I was able to get pictures of. My favorite one is the big red house. I can only imagine what it looks like inside. I am sure I would be drooling!
I would take any one of these lovely homes!

While we were on the Cape we had to hit our favorite ice cream shop, the Sundae School http://www.sundaeschool.com/
They have the best ice cream! Our trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Sundae School.
And this year trip to the Sundae School was even more special because Jackson had his first taste of ice cream there! And no surprise he loved it!!

As if the trip couldn't get any better, I stopped into a wonderful little shop called  Cinnamon Sticks and Candlewicks

What a great shop this was! I got a chance to meet the owner, Jodee and her handsome dog Tucker, who I think is the official store greeter!
Jodee was telling me a bit about the shops history. It was built in the 1880's and was the town's first jail. The coolest part is that she said there is something or someone from the past that still occupies the building! They have had a few encounters with these someones!  I just love a good ghost story! I can't wait to get back there and do more shopping!
It is well worth the trip.

So when I wasn't taken pictures or shopping I was hanging out at the beach! Jackson seemed to like the beach. He wasn't too sure about the waves but seemed to like being in the water. And I think he only ate about a 1/2 lb of sand!! Not too bad for a 9 month old!

Anyways we can't wait to do it again next year. As nice as it was to be away it's always nice to be back home! There's no place like it.

Such lovely pictures and thanks for taking me back a bit. When I was in my late teens I spent some time on the Cape with some friends over a long weekend. It was awesome then but being much older now and loving these styles of homes and shops are so much more appealing now! *LOL* I had boys on the brain back then! Anyway, glad you had a wonderful trip and that your darling little boy enjoyed it too!
Blessings~

Yes, with each child you add, it takes so much longer to get ready and longer to unpack!

Looks like you all had a most wonderful time! Jackson is a cutie and is loving that beach, isn't he?
