It's almost time.......

For fall that is!! As much as I love  summer I love fall even more! And today here in upstate New York it sure feels like fall is in the air. It's a beautiful sunny, blue sky, comfortable kind of day. Its warm, but not too warm and there's a lovely fresh breeze blowing and not a cloud in the sky.
Days like today make me think of all the fun fall things I want to do this year. I get all gitty just thinking about it!

On my fall to do  list is:

Go apple picking. I haven't been in years and now that my little guy can walk on his own I think it will be the perfect time to make a trip to the apple orchard.

Once we have bushels of apples I plan to make lots of apple pies. As well as batches and batches of applesauce. Every year my grandma, cousin and I get together and have our traditional apple sauce making night. There is just something  special about that applesauce when it's made with grandmas help! The best applesauce out there if I do say so myself!

Another soon to be tradition on my fall to do list is the Walker Homestead Show in Brookfield, Massachusetts. Every September they have their fall show and this year will be the first of many fall trips I hope to make to the Homestead show.  http://www.walkerhomestead.com/

A week after the Walker Show I will be heading to Warrensburg, New York for the largest garage sale. http://www.warrensburggaragesale.com/ . My mom lives near there so we will stay at her house. Which is great! Since after a long day of  walking and shopping, it'll be nice not to have to  go too far to crash!

I also can't wait to start decorating for autumn. My house needs a little warming up. During the summer months I like to keep my decor light and summery. Come fall tho, I am so ready to darken things up and make the house warm and cozy!

I love making the house warm and cozy, and what better way to do that then with some good hearty home cooked meals. I love when the nights are getting darker, the air is getting chillier and there's a warm home cooked meal waiting on the table.  Now if that doesn't say warm and cozy, I don't know what does!

There are so many things to do in the fall. Some things I haven't mentioned yet are picking out mums at the local farm stand,  going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin, taking a nice fall drive through the back roads, buying cider donuts, raking leaves ( or more like watching the husband rake them!) , taking a fall walk in the woods, my list could go on and on.

I know fall will be here soon. It is such a short season so I plan to savior every moment of it!

Hope you all have a fantastic day!
Until the next time,
Heather

A little piece of heaven

This past week we went up to my favorite place in the world. A little town called Willsboro. It is located in the Adirondacks and is simply a little piece of heaven on earth! My family has a camp up there and it has been in our family for decades.

My grandfather was borned and raised in Willsboro  and it's where him and my grandmother met and fell in love. Our family has been heading up north to Willsboro ever since then!  We have many good memories of being up north.

Soon as you get off the highway and make a right turn it's as if you are going back in time. Nothing seems to change. There are still miles and miles of  fields, barns, cows and mountians. Life seems to move at a slower pace. People are kinder and life is filled with what is really important. Family, friends and living life!

My dream has always been to live somewhere by a lake, surrounded by mountains and fresh air,  but I never knew excactly where my dream place was.  Don't know why it took me so long to discover it but while we were heading back home it hit me! Willsboro, New York is where my dream place is!  That is where I belong. That is the place I want to build my dream life!

Now of course that doesn't mean I'll be packing my bags and heading up there tonight, as much as I'd like too, it's just not quiet my time yet. But I am excited to think that one day I will have my lovely little cabin in the mountians, by the lake in sweet sweet Willsboro!

Below are a few pictures I took while we were up north. The pictures don't even come close to showing the beauty of the mountains! It was a perfect summer day!

Simple Days

Between working full time, being a mom, a wife, and creating my days are filled. So every once in a while I plan a day just for me! I take the day off from work, send my little guy to my Aunts, send the husband to work and I stay home and do whatever I want too! This past week I had a day just like that! I had my"simple day".

It is funny how you come to cherish days like these. Before I was a mom I had simple days all the time. Weekends and nights were my own. I didn't have to share them with anyone, if I choose not  too.

But of course having a child changed all that. I'll admit it took some adjusting too but now I don't think I'd have it any other way. My days  are now filled with more love and enjoyment then ever before!

When I do get time for myself it's even more special. I appreciate it so much more then I did before. I know that it won't last for long. So nowadays I truly see the beauty in every minute I have to myself.

On my recent "simple day" I made sure to make the most of it! I got up early and got my day started. I was able to finish up many of my little creations that have been patiently waiting for me . It was such a great feeling to finally get these finished! The day was so productive. Of course I did make sure I threw in a little TV couch time. And  it was simply wonderful!

These are a few of my creations that i finished up.

I believe that all of us need to take a simple day every once in a while. A day where we take care of ourselves and give us "our" time.
We are so busy giving our time to everyone else that I think we, especially us wives and mothers, forget to give time to ourselves.

I enjoyed every moment of my  simple day! And hope that you all get to take a day for yourselves soon.
