Thinking of fall................

As much as I love summer and don't want to wish it away I can't help but thinking ahead to fall! I've been busy making my fall creations so sometimes I just can't help but be in a fall mood. As I read other blogs and posts on facebook I see alot of you are also itching for fall. I love it!

One of the ways that helps me get in the fall mood ( not like I need much help) is watching movies that take place in autumn. Some of my favorites are.......

                                                                 BABY BOOM

I always wanted to live her life (after the whole NYC thing). How nice would it be if you could just quit your job, move to a gorgeous farm house in Vermont, have your own pond and apple orchard and stay home and make baby applesauce for a living! How great would that be?!

Another great fallish movie is Funny Farm! Again the movie is set in Vermont. Chevy Chase quits his job moves to a lovely country home, has his own pond and decides to write a novel! Of course things don't go as smoothly as he would like. I guess if it did it wouldn't make such a funny movie, now would it?!

Stepmom is another movie that takes place around fall.
In this movie no one quits their job or moves to Vermont but they do have a really nice house!!

Yes, as you can see I like movies that have nice country homes in them!!

My last movie I'll share with you is my all time favorite. You've got mail!!
Although this one does not have any nice country houses in it, it does have a cute little book shop called the Shop Around the Corner. I just love that name!!

One of my favorite lines in the movies is "Don't you just love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."
 I just love that line!!

Thinking of all these wonderful movies makes me want to watch them all! Maybe this weekend I will have a chance too!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time,
Heather

Trip to the Cape

Well we survived our first family vacation! It is certainly different traveling with a 9 month old then when it was just the two of us. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!
It was a great trip. We had good weather, good friends and good food! What more could you want?
It was a little piece of heaven on earth!
Our days were filled with trips to the beach, walking, shopping and sight seeing!

I just love all the Cape Cod style houses. They are so charming. I just couldn't get enough of them. I wish I could have taken pictures of all of them but I think my husband would have kicked me out of the car! It was bad enough that I would yell "stop!" "I need to take a picture", every 10 seconds!  Good thing he is a patient man!!
Here are some of the homes I was able to get pictures of. My favorite one is the big red house. I can only imagine what it looks like inside. I am sure I would be drooling!
I would take any one of these lovely homes!

While we were on the Cape we had to hit our favorite ice cream shop, the Sundae School http://www.sundaeschool.com/
They have the best ice cream! Our trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Sundae School.
And this year trip to the Sundae School was even more special because Jackson had his first taste of ice cream there! And no surprise he loved it!!

As if the trip couldn't get any better, I stopped into a wonderful little shop called  Cinnamon Sticks and Candlewicks

What a great shop this was! I got a chance to meet the owner, Jodee and her handsome dog Tucker, who I think is the official store greeter!
Jodee was telling me a bit about the shops history. It was built in the 1880's and was the town's first jail. The coolest part is that she said there is something or someone from the past that still occupies the building! They have had a few encounters with these someones!  I just love a good ghost story! I can't wait to get back there and do more shopping!
It is well worth the trip.

So when I wasn't taken pictures or shopping I was hanging out at the beach! Jackson seemed to like the beach. He wasn't too sure about the waves but seemed to like being in the water. And I think he only ate about a 1/2 lb of sand!! Not too bad for a 9 month old!

Anyways we can't wait to do it again next year. As nice as it was to be away it's always nice to be back home! There's no place like it.

Alittle bit of Summer, alittle bit of Fall!

There's no doubt about it summer has officially arrived! This will be the 3rd day that the temperature will reach above 90! I must admit I love it! I so enjoy a hot summer. Summer wouldn't be summer if we didn't have a heat wave, now would it?
As much as I love this heat I know by the time September rolls around I will be anxiously awaiting those cool fall days. That's why I love living in upstate NY. Just when I am done with one season another one is ready to come on in. For me the beginning of each season brings a sense of renewal. I like to think that each season has it's own "personality " just like we all do. Summer is happy and easy going, fall is warm and welcoming, winter is comforting, yet can be a little intense, and spring is fresh and exciting. It's silly but that's how I view the seasons here in the Northeast.

This past weekend I was in the full summer swing! We headed up to my moms and spent the weekend playing in the river, barbecuing, sitting out by the camp fire and just being with family . It doesn't get any more summer then that!

After a fun weekend it was time to get back working on things for my show in the fall. This time of year it's great to have my craft room in the basement. It's nice and cool down there. Perfect for working! I was able to finish up a few of my Jolly Olde Fall Pumpkin Guys and also made more tarts.
+
So far the tarts have been coming out pretty well.  They smell great! I hope they do well for me at the show. The best thing about making the tarts is that you can make a lot in a short amount of time! I can't say that about any of my other items I make!

Tonight I hope to work on another Mr. Pumpkin. This one will be a bit different then any of my others. If it all goes well I'll post some pictures of him.
I hope you all stay cool!
Until next time!
